I know someone who had a white one of these years ago - a bit rusty, slow and noisy, as well as smaller than you'd expect, but very cool nonetheless

I still like the estate better, but that’s probably just my “long roof good” bias showing. I would certainly not turn my nose up at any of those, especially that caged example. That looks like fun.

I wondered about that, too. But “Saloon” is the actual submodel name from Triumph. They also have a “Coupe” version with a different roofline. I think the Saloon just has more interior room or something. It makes me wonder if there were Jalops in the ‘60s who were irritated with the nomenclature, the way we are when someone releases a 4-door “coupe.”
